How to Advertise your Web Pages
- Once you have a standalone web page on the internet, you need to let everyone know about it. Advertising a travel resource in a travel directory is an excellent first step. A bed & breakfast directory or any internet site with travel-related content can help you boost your Google PageRank and search engine relevancy ratings
- There are many travel directories on the WWW. There are also thousands of different search engines, yellow page directories, general directories, and classified ad sites.
- It is to your advantage to get all the free advertising possible. If you can afford the extra exposure that a paid ad provides, even better.
- Have a 25-words-or-less description ready to go, as well as your e-mail address and the exact URL address of your page. You will also need a list of keywords, your address, phone and fax numbers, etc.
- It will save you some effort if you save your description ahead of time using a text editor. You can then use COPY and PASTE to copy the information from your text editor and paste it into the online forms which you will encounter.
- If you know how to use macros, you can design several ahead of time to automate the process.
- If you have to complete a long form, you may "time out" (on dial-up connections) and become disconnected from your internet connection. If this happens, simply minimize the browser window, reconnect to your service provider, maximize the browser window, and click on the form's "submit", "send" (or other equivalent) button.
- Many people save dial-up connect time by automatically disconnecting themselves whenever they have a form to fill in and reconnecting after they have completed all the information.
- Remember to keep track of where you advertise - preferably in alphabetical order. Most places do not appreciate users who try to advertise more than once on their site. Some sites will delete all references to your page if you goof here!
- If you know how to use a spreadsheet program like Excel, you can get really organized, tracking dates of submission, the pages that link to you, notes about each site, etc.
- Helpful Book: Search Engine Advertising : Buying Your Way to the Top to Increase Sales - You don't have to have the biggest name or the most dazzling graphics to lure customers to your Web site. These days, all you really need is prominent search-engine placement.
This book shows you how to get it! With searching nowadays as one of the most popular internet activities, a top spot on a major search engine virtually ensures a high volume of visitors - though converting them to buyers is another story. In these pages, top internet marketer and strategist, Catherine Seda, tackles both parts of that equation.
First, she outlines the strategy involved in buying the specific keyword positions that will lead users directly to the page you want. Then, she describes how you can turn poor-performing ad copy into targeted sales-getters, and how you can evaluate and correct low visitor-to-buyer conversions. Beginning marketers will find the info they need to implement a web strategy quickly, while advanced marketers will find all kinds of tips for analyzing and improving current results.
