Treat Mom for Mother's Day - to a Bed and Breakfast Weekend
By Kathy Steinemann

Mom works hard all year. She is there when you need someone to talk to. She shows you how she cares in hundreds of ways. She worries about you when you go out without a coat or into the sun without sunscreen. She deserves a special treat. Mom works hard all year. She is there when you need someone to talk to. She shows you how she cares in hundreds of ways. She worries about you when you go out without a coat or into the sun without sunscreen. And of course, she once gave you the ultimate gift: a warm, safe place to grow for nine months before you entered this world. Mother's Day only comes once a year. We often forget Mom until May, and then all of a sudden we scramble to find a gift. Look no further. A bed and breakfast weekend is the perfect answer. Bed and breakfast inns offer personalized service. They often create special packages for occasions like Mother's Day, anniversaries, birthdays, and other important events. As you begin your search for the perfect package, consider an 'adults only' establishment. Mom has already had her fair share of babies crying in the night, runny noses, and grubby little fingers. An 'adults only' inn won't have any children on the premises, and services tend to be more upscale. Common amenities may be breakfast in bed, full meal service - including champagne or fine wine with dinner, fresh-cut flowers, and chocolates on the pillow. Some bed and breakfasts also offer spa packages, including in-room massage. You might prefer a B&B gift certificate - Mom can use it at her convenience. Island Cottage Oceanfront Inn in Flagler Beach, Florida provides an onsite spa, fireplaces, Jacuzzis for two, and fine dining. Their private, secluded ocean beach is a perfect place to unwind and relax. Beall Mansion in the Greater St. Louis, Missouri area offers in-room spa and salon extras, plush robes (yours to keep), and concierge services. Its period antiques and crystal chandeliers will make Mom feel like royalty. Hexagon House B&B in Pentwater, Michigan is a historic inn near Ludington and the Silver Lake Sand Dunes. This romantic getaway has a fireplace in the Victorian parlor, boasts spacious porches, and offers gourmet breakfast. In-room massage is available, as well as other extras such as facials, manicures, and custom-designed packages that can be geared to your Mom's special tastes. The Foxfield Inn in Charlottesville, Virginia offers a 'Relaxation Getaway' - which includes soaking in their heated outdoor spa, full country breakfast, fine Virginia wine, reservation assistance at a local restaurant, and transport to the restaurant in a Mercedes. Top it off with a private massage in the room for the ultimate touch. The York Harbor Inn in York Harbor, Maine is an oceanfront inn on the southern coast. Several of their rooms have Jacuzzi spa tubs, ocean views, fireplaces, and patios or decks. They offer onsite gourmet dining and a pub with entertainment. There is a golf course nearby - as well as miles of sandy beach. These are just a few ideas to get you started. The Internet contains the home pages of inns from all over the world. They may be called 'homestays', 'pensions' or 'guesthouses' in some countries - but they all offer something unique that you won't find in a hotel. What are you waiting for? Book a great Mother's Day getaway while there are still rooms available!
