Tips for Remembering your 'Memorable' Vacations

   By quamor

Do not simply rely on your memory to record an awesome vacation. A great camera with photo portable storage, scrapbooking embellishments, and a scrapbooking mini organizer will frame and safeguard your experiences for a lifetime.

I have a problem - my memory! If I go on the vacation of a lifetime, I mentally say to myself, 'I will never forget this in a million years'! Then after coming back to the hustle and bustle of everyday responsibilities, my fabulous trip moves to the back burner of my mind. I should have been journaling my trip, utilizing portable storage for a digital camera, and gotten out my scrapbooking mini organizer-complete with scrapbook embellishments as soon as I returned home.

I recently got back from the best vacation I have ever experienced. I can hardly wait to show people all the fun I had, and the wonderful places I visited. Finally, the pictures I have sent to be developed come back - two weeks later. I am so excited to share my adventures with family and friends!

The first picture I pull out of the envelope is one of me and my travel companion having dinner at a lovely restaurant. The problem is, when I share my vacation memories, I cannot recall the exact location and the calendar date. After all, we seemed to visit a zillion places in two weeks. Has it been a million years already?

Knowing my propensity to forget the little details that create big memories, I should have taken time to keep a diary of my awesome experiences each day, and to pack a good camera complete with extra memory or download device, to make sure that I properly recorded my lifetime memories.

While disposable cameras may be cheaper, it is so disheartening when I see a marvelous site and find out the roll is already full. On top of that, I take up about half the room in my carryon bag storing the numerous cameras I need to develop. If only I had a nice camera with the necessary accessories, I could have taken literally thousands of dated pictures, stored them on a portable drive, CD, or memory stick, and been prepared to take more pictures almost instantly.

My written record of the days' events, plus the plethora of dated pictures, could have assured me of flawless memories that I could have taken home, printed within hours, and been ready to get out my scrapbook mini organizer, complete with scrapbook embellishments. I could have had my memories ready to share in the time it took just to develop the photos from the disposable cameras.

When I was a kid, sharing memories meant pulling out the album and looking at faded pictures encased in little plastic sleeves. Today, I take the time to frame my pictures in beauty, enhancing my memories further, and providing a magnificent artistic showcase for my trip.

Each page is a work of art, and with the organizer, I have different supplies ready at hand. I do not have to play hide and seek for what I want, and it definitely makes cleanup easier, after I am done with a project.

However, I must say, the best part of showcasing my pictures is the little stickers and 3-dimensional appliques. For example, I can display two pictures of a day at the beach on a page with miniature sunglasses, a couple of palm trees and a tiny surfboard. A romantic dinner for two at a nice restaurant can be on a page with hearts and other little illustrations of love. Regardless of my picture content, I can decorate each photo page to elicit fond memories, and make all my friends and family take a second look.

Too bad I did not know about scrapbooking embellishments and my cool scrapbooking mini organizer before the most awesome vacation ever! I am going to have to take another trip soon, and make sure I am prepared with my journal and a great digital camera with photo portable storage, so that I can keep taking pictures and save room in my suitcase for all of those great souvenirs.
