Tips for Getting your Holiday off to a Stress-Free Start
|
For some travelers, a holiday can be nothing short of a disaster. The same problems repeat themselves time and time again. This article discusses some of the most common mistakes made when planning. Are you guilty of any of these blunders? By David Cook Time spent planning your vacation is all part of the wellbeing we get from a holiday and we will spend hours during the grim winter months browsing through holiday brochures or searching on the Internet for a place to relax and recharge those batteries. Having been involved in providing airport parking and airport hotels for over 20 years, I am happy to say that most holidaymakers have a trouble-free start to their holiday and go on to have a blissful vacation. Unfortunately, for others it can be nothing short of a disaster and the same problems repeat themselves time and time again. They can be categorized under two headings. Getting to the Car Park or Hotel Insufficient time is often allotted to cover the following contingencies. • Vehicle breakdown made worse by not belonging to an auto association like AA, RAC, Greenflag, or similar organization. • Delays due to accident, motorway maintenance, and poor weather conditions. • Traveling without instructions to the car park and getting lost. It is so easy when traveling to major airports to take the wrong turn simply due to the mass of traffic. • Effect of traveling through rush-hour traffic. At Check In Unbelievably, customers ring up saying they have failed to make the flight and need picking up for the following reasons. • Passport out of date or expiring before return date. Some countries also insist on the passport having an unexpired term, even beyond the return date, anywhere from three to six months. • Lost or necessary passports for children or visas not acquired. • Wrong time, confused by the 24-hour clock. • The best ever: wrong airport - but that's another story! To avoid all these pitfalls, book your airport parking in advance and allow yourself plenty of time to compensate for any delays. Better still, if you have a long journey, reserve your Heathrow hotels and parking, driving down the day before. Finally, do not leave it to the last minute to check your documentation. Make sure it is up to date and take it all with you. Regular travelers are more prone to problems with documentation due to complacency.
