Here are a few handy travel tips that may help make your travels a little easier, no matter where you plan to go! A bit of careful preparation makes for a happier holiday. Everyone can benefit from the time-tested advice in this short article. Here are a few handy travel tips that may help make your travels a little easier! 1. Pack a Pen This tip sounds like something a geek would say! However, it is a lifesaver when you have to fill in immigration forms and custom declarations at the airport. It is also handy when you have to write addresses, phone numbers, or to help you through the confusion of a new currency. 2. Roll, Do not Fold Roll your clothes when packing; you will manage to fit a lot more in your bags then by folding. 3. Pack, Unpack, and Halve This is an oldie but a goody. Many travelers pack everything except the kitchen sink. Pack your bags, unpack them, and then halve everything. Now you are really ready to pack! 4. Business Cards Making up some business cards is not only cheap and easy, it is a simple way to share your contact details with fellow travelers you meet during your travels. These can be made on a home computer or you can buy online at low, low prices. 5. Book Locally If you are backpacking, try to book your travel needs locally. It is quite often (not always) cheaper than booking at home. An example of this are flights between Hanoi and HCMC. Booked in Vietnam, they are generally around $100 AUD; booked in Australia, you can pay upwards of $400 AUD! Alternatively, use a local operator - like Vietnam Travel Notes! 6. Overnight Travel If you are on a tight budget, try to travel overnight. You can sleep on the bus or train and save the money you would have had to spend on accommodation. 7. Eating Cheaply Here is another tip for the budget-minded traveler. Instead of using restaurants for lunch, hit the local supermarkets or markets and buy your food there. You can save a bundle! 8. Make a Copy This is the tip your Mum always says: "Have you photocopied your passport darling?" Well as normal, Mum's are rarely wrong and making a copy of your important docs is a good idea. Scan them and then email them to yourself and a friend/relative. If your paper copies get wet, torn, or lost, you still have an electronic copy to use. 9. Get Lost Yes that's right, I mean Get Lost! Get out there, hit the streets, and wander the pathways. Meet the locals and most importantly - HAVE FUN! About the Author: Source: Vietnam travel.
