Getting to the airport before your trip can be hard to figure out. What do you do if you have a morning flight and you do not want to wake up someone at 4 a.m.? There are places to park at airports as well as local off-site services that will shuttle you. In addition, some shared services will pick you up at your home and save you money due to sharing the ride with others in the van.

If you want to use short-term parking, keep in mind that this costs the most - but it may be fine if you are going away for a short trip. It is generally very close to the airport and easy for moving your luggage to the terminal.

Many choose the long-term parking lot due to it being less expensive than the short-term lot. A shuttle or bus will get you back and forth to airport buildings. This may be a good choice for you, especially for a family vacation.

The economy parking lot is usually the furthest from the airport buildings; it will save you more money than short-term or long-term parking. It may be out in the open and not covered. You should find out about the security coverage at the lot. You also have access to a shuttle bus to reach the terminal.

It is easy to forget where you parked the car, so write down the location of your parking spot so that you can easily find it when you come back. You do not want the frustration of not finding your car late at night, or when you are exhausted from a trip.

Parking off-site is another option for travelers, and some places entice you with a car wash, free cup of coffee, and newspaper. Hotels and rental places often offer this service and shuttle you to your terminal.

When you park off-site, determine if the pricing for a covered vs. uncovered spot makes a difference to you. Keep in mind that security may also be different, depending on the neighborhood of the parking service.

Some airports have a shared ride service where you pay for a ride with others to or from airport. Sometimes the ride can take 2 to 3 hours if you are the last one in the lineup, so you need to consider this. Still, the price is great and you may even enjoy hearing about others' trips in the car while you converse.

Always compare pricing, since it can vary from town to town. Also, think about whether you want to pay for convenience or whether it is fine for you to spend longer time transporting in order to save money.
