By Alison Robinson The first thoughts that probably pop into your head when thinking about Miami are tropical weather, beaches, bikinis, great tans, Cuban cigars, and Miami Vice. Well, all those thoughts are relevant; however, Miami also offers many other cool and interesting things. As a holiday destination, Miami is jam packed with exciting activities and attractions for the whole family. In this article, we take a moment to highlight some of the top things to do in Miami. Holidaying in Miami does mean beach, fun and sun. If you are the type of person who enjoys lapping up the sun while on holiday, Miami's South Beach is the place for you. The beach is a popular photo shoot backdrop. Spend the day (or a few days) people watching and getting a tan. Miami has a tropical climate, which is great for year-round visits. At night, South Beach lights up and becomes a great spot for nightlife and clubbing entertainment. If you are taking your family to Miami, the kids will find entertainment at the Miami Children's Museum and the Miami Seaquarium. The Miami Children's Museum has interactive exhibits to provide entertainment and educate. All ages will enjoy a visit to the Miami Seaquarium, where visitors can swim with the dolphins and view a selection of marine wildlife. So when you plan your trip to Miami, remember that the kids would also love it, as it is a great holiday destination that caters to both old and young. The city of Miami is soaked in culture, with more than 60% of the population being of Hispanic descent. Take a day or two to explore Little Havana, a mini Cuba. Walk the streets, eat the traditional Cuban meals, smoke a hand-rolled Cuban cigar, and watch the elderly locals playing dominoes. In Little Havana, visitors will find unique little shops, tiny quaint cafes, and will be able to sample Hispanic culinary delights. If you love works of art, you must not miss a walk through Miami's Art Deco District. This area is a colorful feast for the eyes, an incredible collection of multi-colored pastel buildings. Although Miami is a relatively new city, this area is steeped in culture and funky style. After taking in the Art Deco buildings, head down to the Miami Art Museum to view a showcase for local and international artists. Lastly, it would be a crime to visit Miami and not take a cruise on the water. Book in with a tour operator, see Miami from the sea, and while you are booking a boat trip, organize a professional tour of the city to ensure you have not missed anything. Miami is a truly exciting travel destination; lap up sun, culture, art, and fun. What more could you want?
