When people think theme parks, they usually think big - and big means a trip to Florida. While that can be good for some people, it can be overwhelming (and over budget for many more). If you want a theme park trip that the whole family can enjoy (and that will leave some cash in your wallet at the end of the day) then you need to check out Dollywood.

It's amazing what you might discover in the mountains of Tennessee. Pigeon Forge is a town full of wonderful treasures, but none of them shine quite like Dollywood. This family-focused theme park ranks in the top 50 most attended theme parks worldwide. It covers 118 acres of land and every type of entertainment you can imagine.

Dollywood is host to five of the South's largest festivals.

The Festival of Nations is five weeks of culture that spans the globe. There is Latin dancing, Irish step dancing, crafters, and entertainers - and don't forget the food from the nations as well.

KidsFest is fun AND educational. You never know who might make an appearance (the Kratt brothers are coming this year), and the theme Creature Adventures definitely leaves the impression that creatures will be lurking about.

Barbeque and Bluegrass is about as southern as you can get. Market Square will be filled to the brim with all the inviting aromas of a great backyard barbeque, and the 21 days of bluegrass is sure to leave you wanting more.

Harvest Celebrations is a fall tribute to Southern gospel.

Smoky Mountain Christmas will show you a spectacular display of the season and help you find the true meaning of Christmas once again.

The rides at Dollywood are designed to thrill attendees of all ages (and adventure levels). Rides like Daredevil Falls, Mountain Slidewinder, Smoky Mountain River Rampage, and Blazing Fury are all great ways to cool off during your time at the park. For more thrills, you need only take a ride on the Mystery Mine, Tennessee Tornado, The Thunderhead, or Shooting Star.

For the younger (or less venturous) there are plenty of rides as well. Take a ride on the Dollywood Express or a romp in the Dreamland Forest. Drive your own classic car on the Rockin' Roadway or join Larry and Bob on a junior rollercoaster.

Dollywood is truly an adventure for the whole family. You can ride, take in a show, learn a craft, and have an amazing meal - all while never leaving the park.
