Have you been wondering about train travel? You may be surprised to learn that trains are a wonderful way to get around. In addition to great scenery, you get fast and convenient transportation that lets you enjoy the countryside while you travel to your destination.

If you are longing to see more of the country and travel in comfort at the same time, then a train is a great choice. For long distance travelers, there are even bunk beds for your comfort and convenience.

1. Making train reservations is quite simple. However, it is always best to book your tickets a few days or a few weeks before your expected travel time.

2. If you can, take your own snacks and beverages when you are traveling by train. Some trains offer refreshments, but they usually charge a much higher price than you would pay at a normal shop.

3. Many people prefer to take their own pillows and blankets if they are taking a long trip. Some trains provide free blankets, etc., but if you are concerned about cleanliness, then taking your own is wise.

4. Traveling light is important, so just make sure you do not pack too much. Unfortunately, not all train stations have porters or carts available, so you may have to carry your luggage a long way. The less you have to carry, the better.

5. Take cash along for the train trip. There are no ATM machines on trains, and many trains cannot process credit cards. There are other good reasons for having cash on hand. One is that you might need to tip porters when disembarking. In addition, you may need to get a taxi to bring you to your final destination. In these cases, a credit card or ATM card will be useless.

6. Try to exercise a little during the train ride. Some simple stretching can help you to feel more comfortable and prevent stiffness during a long trip. It can also reduce the risk of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a serious condition that causes blood clots to form in your leg arteries. Experts agree that sitting for extended periods aggravates DVT.

7. If you think there is something wrong with your bunk, do not be afraid to ask for help from the train staff. Rest assured that they are trained to deal with this kind of thing, and above all, it is always best to be safe. They can also help you with other problems such as medical emergencies.

Hopefully, these tips will help you have a pleasant train journey and a memorable holiday.
